YEAR-ROUND | ROOM PARENTS
Room Parents support the homeroom teacher, and serve as the classroom liaison between the teacher and the parents of that teacher’s students. Duties can include oversight of classroom parties; attending PTO meetings and sharing PTO updates with classroom parents and the homeroom teacher; managing an Amazon Wishlist for the classroom; organizing the class’s Spring Swing basket and game; and recruiting other parents to help with school events.
YEAR-ROUND | STUDENT SUPPORT
This committee is responsible for identifying and organizing activities and initiatives that allow us to provide support to our students that supplements and complements the support provided by our school and teachers. Examples of such initiatives include helping with AR Award Days, organizing free t-shirts for students, organizing occasional healthy treats for students, and more.
YEAR-ROUND | TEACHER SUPPORT
This committee helps organize ways to honor and support our teachers. Initiatives include our monthly Woot Woot Wagon with free classroom supplies and treats for teachers; organizing meals or treats during Back to School Home Visits, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Teacher Appreciation Week, and more. This committee is also responsible for maintaining, updating, and sharing the Teacher’s Favorite Things database.
YEAR-ROUND | APPAREL
This committee oversees the design, ordering, and delivery of apparel to be sold as a fundraiser throughout the year.
EARLY FALL | PARAGON FUNDRAISER
Our PTO utilizes a fundraising program through Paragon each year. This committee is responsible for organizing the kick-off for Paragon, tracking orders and earnings for the fundraiser, coordinating the delivery dates, and communicating with parents and others who have ordered items to ensure they are picked up in a timely manner. Committee members will also troubleshoot order issues and coordinate the awarding of prizes offered by Paragon.
FALL | BOOK FAIR
Book Fair is hosted annually by the school as a fundraiser for the school. The committee is responsible for creating and implementing a theme for book fair and advertising the event to parents. The event is typically held in coordination with the school’s annual Grandparent Visits, in which grandparents attend the bookfair with their student grandchildren. PTO is responsible for helping plan and hold the event. Volunteers must be coordinated as well.
SPRING | SPRING SWING
Spring Swing is our largest fundraiser, held annually in coordination with the school. This committee is responsible for communicating with Room Parents to ensure a room basket theme is chosen by each classroom, and to ensure donations are made to fill the baskets. The committee finds volunteers to help sell raffle tickets leading up to the event, and also coordinates volunteers to help on the night of Spring Swing. The committee also works with Room Parents to ensure games are chosen for each room.
MAY | 3RD GRADE PROMOTION
This committee helps prepare for, set up and take down decorations for, and plan refreshments for the annual third grade promotion. Committee members will work closely with the school to hold planning meetings and communicate with parents and parent volunteer, and to host the actual promotion ceremony.
